Browse By

Rabies or hydrophobia is cause by a virus call Rabies. When the virus enters the body of a person or animal, it will embed itself in the nervous system, especially the brain and meninges, causing rapid symptoms that can lead to death. The scariest thing is that there is currently no cure for this disease. People or animals infected with this virus have a 100 percent chance of dying.

Because rabies is a virus that can attack the central nervous system. When you get bitten or stung by an animal and left untreat, it can have serious consequences and may cause symptoms such as:

  • fever
  • Drooling a lot
  • Headache
  • paralysis
  • Muscle twitching
  • Mental confusion

Rabies virus is contain in the saliva of infect animals and is transmitt to humans through wounds or soft tissues. The most common cause is being bitten by a dog. Just being lick or scratch by an animal or saliva from an infect animal splashing into a wound or into the eyes, nose, mouth, UFABET, anus or even the reproductive organs that do not have wounds can also cause rabies infection.

During the early stages of rabies infection, other symptoms may occur in addition to fever or a slight headache. The time period before symptoms appear is call the incubation period. Symptoms can range from 20 to 90 days on average. As the infection progresses and reaches the brain, it can cause encephalitis and meningitis. During this time, people infected with rabies will begin to develop physical and neurological symptoms.

The rule of thumb to remember is that when bitten, regardless of whether the wound is large or small, whether there is bleeding or not, whether it is just a scratch, bruise or just a lick, if you are not sure whether the animal has been vaccinat against rabies, always assume that it is an animal that has rabies and should follow these steps:

  • Immediately wash the wound with clean water to remove the blood and saliva of the animal from the wound.
  • Then wash the wound with soap 2-3 times and rinse with clean water.
  • Wipe the area around the wound with alcohol, povidone iodine solution, or tincture of iodine, and see a doctor immediately to get vaccinat that same day.
