Gabriel Undery is a lead technical officer and sessional academic working within the FBE Design Futures Lab, a multi-disciplinary teaching and research space integral to UNSW through the creation of physical artefacts that support the analysis, understanding and design of the built environment.
Gabriel has worked as a studio-based practitioner and industrial modelmaker for 10+ years, delivering product design services to designers, entrepreneurs and startups. In his current role as a workshop-based educator, Gabriel enjoys helping students build their confidence within a ‘making’ context and is a strong advocate for the importance of craft and practice-led research in design.
He is passionate about enhancing hands-on skills as a core part of the student experience, fundamental to the development of tangible ideas in design and abroad. It is this ethos which has mostly influenced and come to define his professional practice as a designer, maker and educator to date.
