Neha Kusum Purohit is a Sustainable Fashion Researcher and Southwest Coordinator for Fashion Revolution. She has been part of the Fashion Revolution movement since 2014. Her approach to sustainable fashion is exploratory, introspective and academic. She wants to bring to light sustainable fashion efforts, stories and obstacles faced by designers and consumers in the USA. She is passionate about building local awareness, starting conversations around sustainable fashion, and empowering particularly consumers with sustainable fashion choices to make an impact. This is why she is currently building a community group called AZ Sustainable Fashion – A hyperlocal sustainable fashion movement to collaborate with community members and highlight their work.
In 2018, she consulted and suggested to start AZ Eco Fashion Week during Fashion Revolution Week, and 2019 was the second year for this event. This year, she is excited about Phoenix Fashion Week debuting Green Carpet during their October fashion week event. She was also selected as one of the 25 Wear It Wise Leaders worldwide with Net Impact’s Wear it Wise Challenge this year and her project was one of the finalists. She has served as an Americorps Fellow for two consecutive years with Corporation for National and Community Service in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. She holds a B.Sc. in Marketing from R.H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland and an MBA in Sustainable Business, and is currently pursuing her doctorate on this topic.
